Back By Popular Demand - Women's Parkour Seminar!

Primal Fitness will begin hosting a recurring parkour seminar for women on the third Sunday of every month!

 

The next will be Feb. 15th at 10am, and will introduce women of all ages to the discipline of parkour! 
Now is your chance to be introduced to parkour in a safe, correct, and professional manner. 
Misconceptions about parkour and especially a woman's ability to practice are abound, so to help clear up some of these misunderstandings here are a few of the most frequently asked questions and their answers.

Can women practice parkour? 

Of course! Anyone can practice and excel in parkour. Primal Fitness parkour classes see many mainstay female practitioners!


What will the class cover?

This two hour session will include some of the basic moves of parkour, jumping, landing, rolling, vaulting and even jumping from a box to a wall for those who feel up for it! We will cover some exercises and discuss how to continue on with your own practice.

Do women have the ability to partake in all the exercises/ drills?

Absolutely! Parkour drills and all exercises done at Primal Fitness can be scaled to all levels of fitness, ability, and body type.

What should I wear/bring?

Your usual workout wear is fine; some people prefer cargo, sweat or yoga pants that cover their knees. Bring a water bottle.

Meetup.com group meets up at Primal!

A parkour group from Meetup.com converged on Primal Fitness last Sunday to undergo an introductory seminar/ training session! Two groups of 15-20 participants spent two hours learning the basic movements and philosophies of parkour! Mark, Travis and Salil ran the groups though an accelerated and distilled version of the first 3 weeks of the parkour bootcamp to give everyone a small taste of what parkour and Primal is all about. Everyone had a great time and we’re sure the result will be lots of new faces in Primal’s parkour classes!

January Crossfit Challenge next weekend!

Next Saturday, January 24th, we'll run the CrossFit Total!
 
Saturday Jan4uary  2th 3:30pm-8:00pm
Challenge: The Crossfit Total: 3 attempts at 1RM for each of the following lifts:
Back Squat
Deadlift
Overhead Press
 
The competition will be followed by grilling out back, so bring some covered side-dishes and beverages for the after-party, and feel free to bring family and friends to cheer you on and share in the fun! This will be free to current Primal clients and $15 or a covered dish for non-primates. See you all there!

Parkour- One Step at a Time

Last night's parkour class demonstrated one of the key elements of parkour- scaling a movement to be achievable by people of all levels of fitness, athleticism, and experience. If you can master the art of building up to a movement step by step, even the most advanced moves become possible. At Primal Fitness, we make sure all of our workouts and practice are scalable and incremental. Here we have everyone doing running rail precisions from different take-offs to different landings.
